the philosophy & the photography
Your wedding day is about your love and celebrating that love with those closest to you, or maybe even just the two of you. It's about where you've been which has brought you to this day, it's about the first day of the rest of your lives together. My goal for every single wedding day and elopement is to capture the most authentic moments. I’ll capture the big ones you’ll remember the rest of your life, and the little ones you may not even realize happen. To make sure this goal is reached I approach your wedding day with a photojournalistic style that is lively, romantic, creative, and non-traditional. Typically my couples are people who enjoy the splendor of life. They are creative, kind, silly, shy, bold, loving, quirky, genuine humans and I do my best to bring all those elements through in your wedding imagery. I know choosing your wedding photographer is no easy task, you want someone who will capture your day in all its brilliance. Someone who takes the memories just as seriously as you do. I hope to be that person for you. On your wedding day capturing your love and your story is my ultimate priority. I know that your trust has to be earned and I will work to do just that. By the end of it all I hope you consider me a friend and know that these moments captured are only going to increase in value over time.
So, how long have I been photographing weddings? Since 2012. I’ve photographed weddings with a 400 person guest count, elopements where it is just me and my couple, and everything in between. Every wedding is different, each one has its own personal attributes that make it a unique and meaningful day. I call St. Louis home, but I have been fortunate enough to have traveled all over the United States and internationally to document wedding days and elopements. I started capturing weddings in college as a second shooter and/or associate photographer, but I’ve had a camera in my hand for longer than that. I first fell in love with photography when shooting and developing black and white film. It is still my favorite thing to shoot with because it creates such a classic and timeless photograph. Aside from weddings I love to photograph my travels and work on a few personal projects from time to time. One of my favorites is the dancers project, which you can find bits and pieces of in the journal. Photography is a constant and brilliant staple in my life. I couldn’t image this world of mine without it.
Hello, my dear! I hope it’s going well, the life, and the things, and the stuff. I’m pretty bad about talking about myself, but I feel like if we spend on of your best days (so far) together we should get to know one another a bit.
-I was raised in a small town outside of St. Louis on about 130 acres.
-My favorite hobby is thrifting, antiquing, and a bit of dumper diving…that’s three, but whos counting. ;)
-There are two cats and three chickens(in my backyard) that share our city homestead with Colin and I.
-Cooking is fun, but eating is better… and even more so with a nice glass wine.
-There is much to be said about traveling, I love it, and we all should do more of it.
-I believe in the little things, the ones that make up the big picture of life and that a little kindness goes farther than you think.
I really want to get to know you too! Send me a note HERE. Tell me some things about you and what kind of story you want to tell through photographs.
The best way for you guys to know if I may be the right fit for you is from the words of others. If you need a little more affirmation take some time to read these.
